Lenaitasi Duru is the new general secretary for the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA).
He was appointed by the Party’s management board today.
Mr Duru succeeds Emele Duituturaga who had resigned a month ago.
Party leader Viliame Gavoka said other than Mr Duru’s qualifications, he brought with him a strong sense of continuity and stability to the Party, having served as assistant general secretary for the last nine months.
Mr Duru’s appointment as general secretary is effective from today.
He holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific together with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration in General Management, Post Graduate Certificate in Business Administration in Human Resources Management, and a Bachelor of Commerce International Business & Marketing/Agricultural Business and Economics.
The board has also appointed Filipe Qio as the assistant general secretary.
