OPPOSITION parliamentarian Mosese Bulitavu and businessman Jagath Karunaratne, who are facing sedition charges, will know their fate next month when Magistrate Deepika Prakash delivers her judgment on the case.
Magistrate Prakash was scheduled to deliver her judgment yesterday, but informed the court that it was not ready hence the deferment.
Mr Karunaratne and Mr Bulitavu are charged with one count of sedition each.
The charges stem from words that were spray-painted on billboards in August 2011.
The two were alleged to have written seditious comments at various places within Suva during the said time.
Both accused persons have denied the allegations against them.
Magistrate Prakash will deliver her judgment on March 19.
Meanwhile, Mr Bulitavu’s lawyer, Barbara Malimali informed the court that she would be filing for bail variation for her client to travel overseas later this month.
Magistrate Prakash told Ms Malimali that such an application could only be approved by the Chief Magistrate, Usaia Ratuvili.
Bail has been extended for both accused persons.
