A taxidriver is admitted with serious injuries at the Korovou Hospital after he allegedly drove into a herd of cows along the Kings Road near Waimaro in Tailevu yesterday.

This, according to police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro.

“The driver of a heavy goods truck allegedly failed to control his vehicle and hit the cows,” she said.

“The driver allegedly saw a boy herding the cows to the other side of the road, but however, could not control the truck resulting in the accident.”

In a statement, Fiji Roads Authority urged members of the public to be vigilant when travelling along Kings Road.

“Please slow down when approaching bends and drive within the speed limit so that you have ample time to make quick decisions when the need arises,” the statement read.

“We also urge animal owners to please confine their livestock properly and away from the roadsides because failure to so can result in serious collisions as we have seen today (yesterday).”
