HUNDREDS of people gathered in Nadi yesterday to pay their last respects to Tomasi Bulitavu, the driver of the minibus involved in a fatal accident at Nabou, Sigatoka, last Saturday.

Tears flowed freely as eulogies were delivered in church to describe the life of the 27-year-old who left behind his wife and three young children.

Speaking on behalf of Zen’s Medical Clinic, Dr Vereniki Raiwalui said as an ambulance driver, Tomasi was a person who made an impact when interacting with people.

“Tomasi showed us what it takes to take care of people,” he said.

His father, Pastor Nemani Bulitavu, said the family had accepted the fate of his son, who perished along with seven others as a result of the accident.

He was laid to rest at his mother’s village in Moala, Nadi. Eight other passengers are still admitted at the Lautoka Hospital.
