Driver involved in fatal Rakiraki accident on the run; search continues

Fijian Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that was involved in a fatal accident in Rakiraki on Sunday morning.

Utiko Lewatabu, 27, died from injuries received in the accident at Waimicia.

The driver fled the Waimaro Health Centre where he was taken for treatment.

“He fled from the medical centre before he was treated,” said police spokesperson Wame Boutolu.

“He is yet to be arrested and investigation is continuing.”

The twin cab driven by the 30-year-old had six passengers and went offroad, resulting in Mr Lewatabu receiving serious injuries.
