IT was a dream come true for couple Elizabeth Mundia and Jope Makutu after they graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the Fiji National University’s College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science in Suva yesterday.

Ms Mundia, who is originally from Samoa and shares maternal links to Zambia in Africa, said her dad was her motivator.

She said having a child and attending university was not easy, but with the support of her family and friends she was able to overcome her challenges.

“It was a tough journey for me as I am also a mom. I have a two-year-old son and I am just thankful that I sacrificed a lot,” she said.

Ms Mundia dedicated her achievement to her son and all those who rallied behind her.

“My dad had always inspired me to work really hard. I was very lucky to have a very supportive family that enabled me to balance my time in school and the time I spend with my child.

“My in-laws were very supportive in looking after my son while I was at school.”
