POINTS table leaders Saru Dragons maintained their spot on the Top 8 table without even breaking a sweat in the Vodafone Cup competition.
This was after the Lautoka based side won their last round robin match of the season by default after opponents Topline Warriors failed to show up for the game at the Suva Grammar School ground yesterday.
The KBL-sponsored Dragons ended up playing a friendly match for the sake of the fans who turned up to witness them in action.
Fiji National Rugby League west development officer Lagilagi Golea said the Dragons confirmed a home semi-final spot by finishing first on the points table.
“The Dragons have worked very hard throughout the season,” he said.
“They lost only one match and that was in the first round but even since then, they have been undefeated.
“They also look good to qualify for the final for the second successive year in the competition.”
Golea said the top place finish was a testament of the output of the players in every game they played.
“It’s the players that have made this possible for Saru. The players give it their very best in every match they play.
“They ensure they stick to the game plan and play as a team whenever they step out on the field.”
