FIJIFIRST Government MP Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says he would ensure to resolve grievances within the health sector in a manner that was fair and just.

His comments came after he was sworn in as Health and Medical Services Minister at the State House in Suva yesterday.

“I’ve been in the medical sector for more than 20 years and I hope to use this experience in uplifting the health sector in our country.

“It is also important that I, as a leader, listen to the nurses and doctors because we need to work together in order to give people the health service they need on a daily basis,” Dr Waqainabete said.

He also thanked Government for giving him a portfolio he knew very well.

“Helping people has been part of my life because I am a doctor and even though this role will be one of the biggest role I have ever undertaken, I am glad that they have put me in my area of expertise,” Dr Waqainabete said.

He was among five new party candidates who were sworn in Cabinet ministerial and assistant ministerial portfolios.
