An emotional Dr Padma Narsey Lal arrived at the Nadi International Airport yesterday with the ashes of her late husband, Professor Brij Lal.
“I’m glad that we will finally be able to take his ashes back home,” Dr Lal said.
“I thank the Prime Minister, Professor Biman and the rest of the Government for their great assistance.”
Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad, who was at the arrivals lounge to receive the family, said the late Dr Lal got his wish.
He said he and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka would be in Tabia, Labasa on Saturday for the final funeral rites.
“No one should ever be subjected to that kind of injustice, this is a proud moment for Fiji,” he said.
