Down but not out

BA Methodist High School Saints under-15 coach Thomas Vuto said the future looked bright for the side despite bowing out during the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League National quarter-finals.

The troopers from Sorokoba lost their quarter-final match 10-4 taking Ratu Kadavulevu School to the wire at Buckhurst grounds yesterday.

“We bowed out against one of the giants of rugby in a very close match, we punched above our weight, and I can say our boys are leaving with their heads held high,” Vuto said.

Vuto said they had been developing the sport in the school since 2015 and it was beginning to make dividends.

“For some of the smaller schools we don’t have a big development program yet we rely on the heart of our players.

“And despite the loss they stood out today.”

Vuto said reaching the national quarter-finals only added fire to the side to push harder next year. “We will come back bigger and better, and are excited for the journey ahead.”
