Fiji will find out today who will walk away with the $5000 sponsored by The Fiji Times in the Domo Vou Talei song contest.

The winner of the $3000 Westpac People’s Choice Award will also be announced this afternoon at the Woodstock Uprising Music Festival in Pacific Harbour.

The finalists of the Domo Vou Talei song contest wowed the stage crew at the Uprising Beach Resort yesterday.

Producer, composer and artist Phil Dakei said he was blown away with the energy they produced on the big stage.

“They are more than ready to wow Fiji with their original songs, so you will be missing out if you are not there,” he said.

Fiji music superstar and retro-rocker Inoke ‘Knox’ Kalounisiga said after listening to the songs, he was very encouraged.

“Let me put it this way, the future of Fiji’s music industry is in good hands with these 10 artists.

“If there is one thing I have always tried to encourage, it is this – to have more original music coming out of Fiji.

“And these youngsters are definitely going to do that.”

The Fiji Times is a sponsor for Domo Vou Talei, along with Westpac, Australian High Commission, Fiji Performing Rights Association, Communications Fiji Ltd, and Knox Entertainment.
