Dominion Takes U21 Crown

DOMINION Brothers won its eighth title in the under-21 grade in tournaments they have taken part in this year.

They defeated Saqani Brothers 10-7 in the final of the 15th Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s carnival on Taveuni.

Captain Aquino Savenaca said despite the lack of financial support, they still managed to make it through.

“We have the talent and our dream is to wear the white jersey and this is where it all starts,” Savenaca said. “The sacrifice when we take part in all big tournaments motivates us to keep going no matter how long the journey is, we will never give up.”

He added they participated at the tournament to help expose their talent and improve on their playing skills.

Their plan next year is to join their senior team and hopefully get recognised in the national team.

They walked away with the prizemoney of $3000 while Saqani Brothers took home $1000. Losing semi-finalists Waitabu Southern Babaas walked away with $700 each. Plate winners Galoa Sharks won $600, runner-up Covenant Brothers won $400.

Bowl winner Dominion Red won $300 and runner-up St Peter Navakawau won $200.
