THE mother of a young man whose body was found in a cassava patch at Vesida in Kinoya, Nasinu, two years ago still finds it hard to talk about her son’s tragic death.

Twenty-one-year-old Iosefo Qionitoga Magnus was allegedly murdered on September 20, 2017.

A team from this newspaper had visited Mr Magnus’s home on Friday, however, his mother Carolina Magnus was too distraught to speak about her son’s death.

Mrs Magnus was able to confirm to this newspaper that police had so far not given them any update in relation to the alleged murder of her son.

“Nothing from police so far and I’d prefer, I don’t talk about it,” said an emotional Mrs Magnus.

Iosefo was a law student at the University of the South Pacific at the time of his death.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro had earlier confirmed to this newspaper that a few people had been questioned by police and later released as investigations continued.

Meanwhile, Magnus, who grew up aspiring to become a lawyer, was described by one of his close friends, Kelera Francis, as a humble, hardworking and a calm person.
