It was a sea of blue and white as hundreds of former students and supporters of Queen Victoria School (QVS) filled the Vodafone Arena on Thursday.
QVS Old Boy (OB) president Akuila Waradi said the dinner was for parents, former students and supporters to raise funds for the 70th anniversary celebrations since the school’s relocation from Ratu Kadavulevu School in 1952.
He said the fundraising dinner was a hit as all tickets were sold out.
The anniversary celebrations will be held at the school on December 16.
“I must acknowledge with gratitude and awe the commitment and support of the QVS OBs,” Mr Waradi said.
“After tonight, we will continue to plan as we are looking forward to a bigger event in December.”
Mr Waradi also encouraged old and present scholars to continue to support the school for the betterment of future QVS students.
QVS principal Timoci Vosailagi said the school was very fortunate to have the support of local and overseas old scholars.
“The school right now is very fortunate to continuously enjoy the support of the QVS old scholars parents and even old scholars of other schools such as Marist Brothers High School, Adi Cakobau School and St Joseph Secondary School,” he said.
“This dinner will definitely pull more support from more schools and we also have more OBs overseas who are supporting the call.
“As we move closer to December, when we celebrate I’m sure it will surpass what we have set forth by the committee and we are looking forward to it.”
