The Rewa FC has moved to third spot on the Digicel Premier League point’s table ladder after a 2-nil win against Navua on Sunday.

Both teams displayed good football in the first-half and shared equal number of scoring chances.

Rewa got the first goal in the 66th minute via a spot kick by Patrick Joseph, Navua goalkeeper Josaia Ratu fouled
Gabiriele Matanisiga in the box that allowed Joseph to open the account from the penalty spot.

Replacement Samuela Nabenia connected well with a Tevita Warainavalu corner-kick to score the second goal.

Rewa coach Rodick Singh said the players performed well.

“We could see the players had positive mindset in the game and that is the reason why we won today (Sunday),” said
Singh.

Singh said there were a lot of areas to work on despite the win.

“There are a lot of areas to improve and we will go back to the drawing board. Our area of concern is our finishing.

“We can see where we play good football and we do create chances, but we failed to utilise,” said the former Rewa rep.

Navua coach Amit Prakash said the players lost concentration during the game.

“We lost concentration and the players will need to step up if they want to stay in the premier division,” said Prakash.

“We started well and then we lost focus. I am really concerned at the moment as we are in the danger zone. We will work out something as it’s not over yet. Let’s see how things go,” said Prakash.

The side remains at the bottom of the points standing with five points from 10 games.

Navua will play Labasa this Sunday at 1pm at Subrail Park in Labasa while Rewa stays on a bye.
