MEMBERS of the Ma’unatul Islam Association in Fiji celebrated Prophet Mohammed’s birthday today at the Girmit Centre in Lautoka.

Association president Mohammed Rafiq said the important day was an important event on the Islamic calendar.

“It is a time when we reflect on the teachings of the Prophet and about unity among our people and his followers,” he said.

“We had about 1000 people that came to our celebrations today and we anticipate an even bigger celebration tomorrow.”

Muslims across the globe will mark the event on November 19.
