Deputy supervisor for FEO

A TECHNICAL team leader from the New Zealand Electoral Commission has been appointed as the deputy Supervisor of Elections.
In a statement released by the Fijian Elections Office yesterday, Elections Supervisor Mohammed Saneem said his newly appointed deputy, Karyl Winter, has extensive knowledge of the Fijian electoral system and its processes which was a significant asset for the FEO for the 2018 General Election.
Ms Winter, who is on secondment from the New Zealand Electoral Commission, said she was looking forward to the conduct of the 2018 General Election.
“The New Zealand team has been working with the FEO over several years to help prepare to conduct this election, and it will be rewarding to see all those plans in operation at election time,” she said.
Ms Winter has significant experience in the management of elections, both in New Zealand and as a technical team leader for the New Zealand Electoral Commission program of electoral assistance to election management bodies in the Pacific.
She also possesses 27 years of experience in elections, was a Returning Officer for many years and has been the Regional Manager for New Zealand’s South Island for two elections.
Meanwhile, President Jioji Konrote confirmed to Parliament in September last year that this year’s polls would be held sometime between April and November.
