A SEMINAR which provided youths a platform to learn about the fundamental principles of democracy and good governance was held in Suva last week.

More than 25 youths were engaged in the Youth Democracy Seminar that took place at the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) conference room.

Youth advocate and president of Ignite4Change Broderick Mervyn said youths had an important role in democracy and good governance and should harness this role.

“I also want to acknowledge Dialogue Fiji and the EU for this opportunity to be part of the seminar,” Mr Mervyn said.

Youth participant Monisha Naidu said these platforms were important to raise issues for youths such as herself.

“As a future leader, I believe I have a duty to disseminate the information I have received to my community, family and friends as democracy affects all these sectors of society.”
