EXPERIENCED defender Lorima Dau was at his lethal form scoring two goals to help Rewa to come from behind and beat Nadi 2-1 at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.
Nadi, who played two games in less than 24 hours, led 1-0 at half time with a goal to Ame Votoniu.
Votoniu scored midway in the first half after heading the ball into the net from a corner kick.
Rewa coach Marika Rodu said the players realised the importance of the match in the second half.
“We did not play the way we wanted in the first half.
“Nadi played a match hours ago and then they also travelled as well so we decided to pressure them which did not eventuate,” he said.
“Lorima showed his experience in the match after missing out in the Inter-District Championship. He played above expectation and used his experience to score.
“The boys know the importance of every match as we want to qualify for the OFC Champions League this year.”
Nadi’s Napolioni Qasevakatini missed some scoring opportunities against Simione Tamanisau of Rewa in the first half.
Nadi lost Waisake Tubucava through a red card.
Nadi coach Joseph Nand said Rewa was a better side.
“It was a hard luck for us. Fitness is a problem for us at the moment but we have improved from the match against Lautoka from Friday night,” he said.
“After we were a man down Rewa applied pressure on us and we could not sustain it.”
Both the coaches send their Diwali wishes to the people of Fiji.
