Delainavesi attack: Accused to front court today

A 25-year-old man who allegedly attacked a female officer at the Delainavesi Community Post in Lami earlier this week will produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today.

The accused has been charged with one count of damaging property, act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and resisting arrest.

According to Police, the suspect had tried to bust through the Delainavesi Police Community Post using a cane knife on Tuesday morning.

The man was after his partner who had ran to the community post asking for assistance from Police.

It is alleged that the man had threatened her in their home which is located near the post.

Police said the suspect had hurled abuse at the officer for allegedly interfering with their personal matters by protecting his partner, and smash the windows and doors to the community post.

The suspect was allegedly drunk at the time of the incident and was later taken into custody at the Lami Police Station.
