Degei apologies to the mother of the man he mowed to death

“I MADE a mistake that day and it wasn’t my intention to take away your son’s life.”

These were the words of Semi Degei as he apologised to the mother of the man he mowed to death in an accident along Salim Street in Nakasi last year.

Degei is convicted of one count each of manslaughter, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and driving a motor vehicle while there is present of a concentration of alcohol in excess of the prescribed limit in the blood.

He caused the death of Rajesh Chand on August 24, 2018.

In court today, the 30-year-old apologised to Mr Chand’s mother and said his family was willing to support Mr Chand’s 12-year-old daughter.
