Defence awaits CCTV footage in manslaughter case

A MAN charged with one count of manslaughter appeared at the High Court in Suva today.
Timoci Cakau appeared before judge Justice Aruna Aluthge.
Between December 23, 2018, and December 24, 2018, outside a night club in Suva, Mr Cakau is alleged to have unlawfully assaulted Ratu Emosi Seru Tagivakatini, which resulted in his death.
Mr Cakau was initially charged with one count of murder but had his charged reduced to manslaughter by the State.
Defence lawyer Namrata Mishra informed the court that they were waiting for the CCTV footage shown to the accused during his caution interview.
Mr Cakau had his bail extended.
The case has been adjourned to June 14.
