Death shatters dream

KRITESH Krishan was supposed to graduate this Friday from the Fiji National University with his fiancee Sangita Lata and their wedding to follow in December.

Sadly, such plans will not eventuate after the 25-year-old died in a car accident at Nabua while on his way to work yesterday.

The Comfort Home Furnishings Ltd worker was described by his parents as a helper and a person with pleasant personality as he usually took time out to help his dad Suresh Kumar at their shop in Flagstaff.

When a team from this newspaper visited their home at Pilling Rd in Nasinu, Mr Kumar and his wife were still trying to come to terms with their loss.

Mr Kumar told this newspaper his son was the baby of the family, the youngest of two sons.

Trying to find the words to utter for his late son, Mr Kumar could only say that they missed Kritesh so dearly.

He said the tragic incident was something they never expected.

Kritesh’s friends called Mr Kumar to inform the family of the accident.

“We heard of the news about 10am when his friends called to say that he has been involved in an accident, we rushed there but the car was taken and we had to rush to the hospital,” Mr Kumar said.

“We weren’t allowed in by the doctors and I told them I wanted to know about my son’s condition. Five minutes later, the security guard then allowed me to go and see him.”

Mr Kumar said the tragic news was the last thing a parent would want to hear.

“We are still trying to come to terms with how our son got into the accident. We were hoping to see him receive the fruit of his hard work at the end of the week.

“He was always very helpful at home and was always trying to help me with everything.”

His fiancée could not contain her tears as she reminisced their last days together.

“We were together on Wednesday doing some shopping for our graduation, we met in school and have been courting for the last four months but he was the one that pushed me to work hard so that we could graduate together,” Ms Lata said.

Ms Lata said she thought he was only unconscious until she saw him covered and was informed that her lover was no more.

Ms Lata said she only wished her fiancée would come back to life to tell her something.
