The Super Deans Championship semi-finals today at Prince Charles Park in Nadi is heading for a sellout.

Thus the call from Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union general secretary Waisake Tuicakau for patrons to make their way early to the Jetset Town park to avoid disappointment.

“Prince Charles Park will be full,” Tuicakau said.

“As of today (yesterday), tickets are selling like hot cake. There had been a lot of requests for tickets and people are turning up in huge numbers to buy them. Indications are that we will have a sellout semi-finals because of the huge support behind all teams.”

He said the huge response was because of the affiliation of semi-finalists from the West.

“Especially this year when we have 10 teams from the West. Six are in the boys competition and four in the Raluve Championship for girls. There are a lot of Western support, especially with the championship being played on Western soil.

“We will continue to sell tickets at the gates, but we strongly advice that fans come in early to avoid a late ticket rush which can leave many disappointed.”

All participating schools arrived in Nadi yesterday ahead of kick-off this morning. Tuicakau said the stage was set, logistics had been taken care of, and he called on players to be at their best because there would be rugby scouts looking for buys for overseas, and local contracts.

“We’ve got winds that some scouts will be at the ground looking for players. We cannot stop anyone because this is about players’ futures.” Fiji Rugby Union Elite Player Pathway Academy manager Viliame Gadolo confirmed that his team had been following the competition for sometime.

“We will be there and also in the finals next week in Lautoka. We will look at some key positions such as No.10 and other areas,” he said.

The semis start at 8.30am.
