Fiji Football Association has signed a $2.85 million three-year sponsorship deal with Digicel, which will see it become the new official sponsor.

Digicel will also become title sponsors for all national teams and the national league competitions, including the Digicel Premier League, Digicel Senior League and all youth and school competitions.

The deal, which was launched in Suva on Wednesday, includes naming rights of the new Fiji FA Women’s Super League which starts this weekend.

The deal marks the biggest investment in Fiji women’s football by a brand becoming the Digicel Women’s Super League.

Digicel Fiji chief executive officer Farid Mohammed said they were delighted to announce the partnership with Fiji FA and looked forward to transforming the future of football in the country.

“Digicel continues to invest heavily in sponsorship for community and grassroots projects,” Mohammed said.

“Our multimillion-dollar commitment will impact all levels of the game and will support our ambition to make the properties that we have acquired the nation’s most successful leagues, on and off the pitch.

“We will invest close to $4 million over three years in the development of football in Fiji which includes cash and kind sponsorship and activations throughout the season with a significant marketing and promotions spend.”

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said Fiji FA was delighted to sign a new three-year partnership with Digicel Fiji.

“This new partnership will enable the continued growth of football at all levels enhancing young Fijians to show their natural skills and talent,” Patel said.

“Our relationship will grow even stronger as we progress through the season.”

Digicel will make its BiP app a feature of compelling football fan interaction with teams to provide information to fans about players, upcoming games and live updates minute by minute during games.

Ticket specials will also be available for fans using the MyCash mobile wallet to buy tickets for matches with raffl e draws and attractive prizes to be won every week during the Digicel Premier League.

“Football is followed religiously in this country. It unites people.

It has the power to transform young people’s lives and opportunities to grow,” Mohammed said.

“We are all in for sport, all in for community, all in for youth and all in for providing a platform for our young people to excel in the sport they love so much.

“This sponsorship, along with the continuing support for Fiji Netball, Suva Rugby’s Escott Shield competition and Suva Volleyball League, is another strong signal of the digital operator’s support for national development through sports.”
