DAY one of the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting was a success.
Speaking to the Fiji Times Online team this afternoon at Nauluvatu village in Nakelo, Roko Tui Tailevu Iliesa Delasau made this comment citing their indepth talanoa session with Prime Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama after the formal opening of the meeting.
“We planned for the talanoa session to cater for two hours but at the end of the day, the decision makers are here and most of the questions and concerns raised, the delegates were satisfied with the response,” Mr Delasau said.
“Upon our consultations with the permanent secretary of iTaukei Affairs and the Prime Minister who is also the Minister of iTaukei Affairs, we decided to continue on with the program until the end of the day,” he said.
Mr Delasau said most of the resolutions through the district council meetings were raised through the talanoa session.
“The platform for today will be adopted in other provincial councils as well.
“The tikina (district) council members and chiefs are all satisfied with today’s (yesterday) program, especially with the presence of the Government of the day.”
Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu who has been appointed the new chair of the Tailevu Provincial Council will arrive this morning from the United States to chair the meeting proper.
His appointment was endorsed by Mr Bainimarama.
