Davujukia Reds will challenge for the holy grail of Nadroga Rugby – the Kalevu Shield – when it takes on defenders Vusu Brumbies.
Holders Vusu Brumbies are made up of players from the villages of Namatakula, Komave, Biausevu, and Vucilevu.
They successfully won the shield from Conua Chiefs last year and have held a firm grip in the last six challenges.
Davujukia Reds are made up of players from Belo, Vunayawa,Naivibuli, Sovi, Votua, Vatu o Lalai, Tagaqe, Namada, Korolevu villages.
An epic battle of highlands, given the origins of both teams from Navosa, and it will be more than just a game of rugby, but it will rekindle the rivalries during their forefathers era.
The result of this match will determine who will challenge in the next round.
Should Vusu Brumbies retain the Kalevu Shield, Tuva Highlanders will be the second challenger of the year and if Davujukia Reds wins, then the recent holders Conua Chiefs will have a chance at Nadroga’s most coveted silverware.
The match this weekend will be played at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka with admission $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
