The Digicel Fiji football women’s head coach Lisa Cole has confirmed the availability of prolific goal scorer, Trina Davis joining the Bula Girls in camp at the Fiji Football Academy in Namosau, Ba, soon.
Cole said the lone female Fijian professional footballer representing her mother’s country of birth would be arriving soon.
“Trina is coming on March 3,” she said.
“She will be here for the national team’s next camp.
“I believe she will be observing the mandatory three-day quarantine upon her arrival in Fiji before joining the rest of the squad in camp.
“It’s a great boost to our preparations for an important competition because Trina packs international exposure and experience.
“Trina had confirmed her availability for the national women’s football team camps earlier in the year.
“I’m looking forward to her arrival.”
Cole said she had endured some challenges which had hindered her quest to assemble other high profile women’s footballers plying their trade abroad with links to Fiji as possible inclusions to further strengthen the national women’s football team.
“We’re working on other players, who had shown a interest to represent Fiji in the upcoming competition in July.
“I didn’t realise how difficult it was for someone to obtain a passport. The passport processes in place aren’t easy for us for whatever reasons. We’re definitely working on it and pushing to get a couple of other players, who may be able to represent the country during the all-important tourney.”
