Dave takes all

LAUTOKA and national rep Dave Radregai engraved his name alongside some of the country’s finest players after being named the 2007 Fiji FA Footballer of the Year.

The 28-year-old said he was surprised to win the award considering the many talented players in the country.

Radregai, who recently returned from Tahiti with his Blues team mates, said it was a humbling experience to win the top award.

“To be named as the player of the year is an achievement I will always cherish for the rest of my life,” he said.

“In fact, I didn’t expect to win the award knowing the many talented players we have in the country.

“I now realise that my hard work has been rewarded.”

Radregai dedicated this award to his favourite fans in wife Naomi Veretani and daughter Salote Waqauru.

“These two special fans never missed any of my games in Fiji and they are integral part of my success.

“I also thank our president Kadar and his family for the support and encouragement, not forgetting my parents who have been there for me throughout my soccer career.”

The Nadarivatu native also attributed his achievement to his Lautoka soccer teammates.

“Without my teammates I don’t think I would be here today and I thank them for their contribution that enabled me to win this award,” he added.
