All pre-trial issues pertaining to the trial proceedings of Mohammed Raheesh Isoof – the man charged with the alleged murder of a family of five in the Nausori Highlands a year ago – have been sorted.

This was the information shared in the High Court in Lautoka yesterday when the matter was called for mention before Justice Chamath Morais.

State counsel Simione Seruvatu said all issues were sorted and both parties were ready to proceed to trial in 2021.

The matter will be called again for mention on August 4 and Mr Isoof has been further remanded in custody.

Meanwhile, the two-week trial will commence on January 25 next year.

It was alleged that between August 25 and August 26, 2019, Mr Isoof murdered Nirmal Kumar, 63, his wife Usha Devi, 54, their daughter Nileshni Kajal and her two children Sanah, 11, and Samarah, 8 and attempted to murder an 11-month-old baby who was found abandoned at the same location.
