THE date for the 2016 Vodafone Fiji National Singles darts tournament has been shifted to allow more competitors to take part this weekend in Suva.
The tournament was earlier scheduled for today but now will be played tomorrow.
Fiji Darts Association president Nyla Afred said now the things were changing as they had a good sponsor Vodafone Fiji backing them for the year.
“We are having the tournament after a lapse of few years because of the lack of funds which is why we were not having the competition,” she said.
“We are hoping to have a good tournament. In the triples tournament we had 60 players from all over Fiji so we are expecting a big turnout as well. Everyone is hoping for a successful tournament.”
The tournament will be played at Defence Club in Suva with the competitors being finalised this evening.
“Initially the tournament was planned to be played on Saturday (today) but the committee met and changed the date so we can have more players competing,” she added.
“The tournament has been improved after Vodafone came on board to sponsor.
“This is the fourth tournament out of five planned.”
The competition starts at 10am.
