THE Fiji Cooperative Dairy Company Ltd (FCDCL)’s data collection on dairy farmers was yesterday boosted after it received additional equipment for its field work.
This is after UNCDF’s Pacific Financial Inclusion Program gave five Samsung tablets to FCDCL to help assist with data collection and recording in real time by field officers.
PFIP deputy program manager Krishnan Narasimhan said the tablets were able to capture the geo location of farms, different coordinates and capture data real time for further assessments.
“FCDCL’s officers go down to the farmers, give advice and also collect valuable data, so right now they are doing it in a very manual form,” he said.
“So we are giving FCDCL as a gift five tablets where the information will be collected this can work both online and offline and when the field officers go to the farms, they will be able to capture the data real time and that will get fed back into the system from the field.”
FCDCL chief executive officer Sachida Nand said the new tablets would provide additional support in its data collection complementing its website.
