We have five supermarkets situated close to the market and bus stand while the other two are situated at each end of Nadi Town.
I think every supermarket has its own client base as their continuing existence indicates.
I think we all know that because of no business many businesses have closed down prematurely.
To build up your client base, I believe your service and prices have to be attractive.
While display of items also matters, cleanness is another important thing supermarket management must keep in mind all the time. When talking of display of items, I see that in some supermarkets the top layer is so high that customers can’t reach them and this is quite frustrating at times.
I believe the layers are to be designed in such a way that they are easily accessible by all in the store.
Another issue you have to look at is the space allowed to customers lining in front of the cashiers.
I find that this particular important area lacks the space needed which causes cramming in some supermarkets.
Every day as you welcome your loyal customers, you must see that these small things are kept in check.
A good customer service guarantees a good relationship.
Please remember the quote of Mahatma Gandhi that “A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption of our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider of our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing us a favour by giving us the opportunity to do so”.
