The Ba Provincial Council has called on village headmen and district representatives to ensure their villagers were following COVID-19 protocols.

Roko Tui Ba Rupeni Kunaturaga said village headmen from 105 villages and 21 district representatives have been contacted by the Council.

“We have been in touch with all of our turaga ni koro (village headmen) and our mata ni tikina (district reps) to inform them of the necessary steps they need to take to ensure the safety of their villagers,” Mr Kunaturaga said.

“We are also urging them to stop unnecessary movements and for our villagers to work with authorities.

“If people listen and adhere to what Government has instructed us to do, we can contain the spread of this virus.”

Saru Village headman Aisea Vuda said they were not taking any chances with this viral disease.

“It takes very little for the virus to spread so we are exercising every precautionary measure that we can,” Mr Vuda said.

“We are working closely with authorities especially the police to restrict movements within the village.”
