Fiji’s Ministry of Health and Medical Services has been assisted with 20,000 face masks from the Taipei Trade Office in Fiji to support our frontline health workers in their efforts to contain the spread of the new coronavirus.

Representative of the Taipei Trade Office in Fiji Jessica Lee met the acting head of Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services and Chief Pharmacist, Ilisabeta Pesamino, on Wednesday, May 6, where the first batch of 7000 face masks was handed over on behalf of the Taiwan government to support Fiji’s frontline health workers.

Ms Lee said the health officials had done phenomenal work over the last few months to detect and contain the spread of COVID-19.

“To combat COVID-19, we need solidarity support by working together. Taiwan has successfully made advanced arrangements to block and control the influx of COVID-19, and now we have the ability to help other countries in need,” she said.

“Thanks to every Fijian frontline health workers’ hard efforts, we can live safely in Fiji.”
