COVID-19: Residents takes to the streets to highlight needs

Residents of two settlements located beside Nawaka, Nadi took to the streets today to highlight their need for food.

Nawaka Tramline and Nawajikuma residents who have been on lockdown in the past 14 days held placards with messages written on them.

“Children are hungry, we need rations and we need our freedom” were messages written on placards displayed on the streets earlier today.

Police personnel arrived a while later to tell people to return to their homes.

A police officer told residents that what they had just did was unlawful and urged them to return to their own homes.
