Twenty-two cases were recorded over the last 24-hours for breach of curfew orders and failure to comply with national COVID-19 health restrictions.

Of that, Police say 13 were arrested for not adhering to the health restrictions and nine for breach of curfew orders.

Fiji Police Acting Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu said the Southern Division recorded seven cases – all were found to have breached the curfew orders, including a taxi driver who did not have a valid pass with a 44-year-old passenger; and five others were arrested for unnecessary movements.

He said the four cases recorded in the Western Division involved two men in their 40’s who were found drunk at the Lautoka Minivan stand and both had breached health restrictions in place, and another two arrested for unnecessary movement within the city area.

In the Eastern Division, nine cases were recorded for breach of health restrictions – six people were found playing billiards at Nacokaika Village in Naitasiri and three were arrested in Cautata Village for drinking grog.

“The Central Division recorded two cases of breaching curfew orders including a 19-year-old man who was found walking along Stewart Street in Suva as well as a 54-year-old man who was found drunk along the Waimanu Road area,” ACP Tudravu said.
