Any member of the public that will be visiting the Oceania Hospital in Suva is now required to wear personal protective equipment that will be provided upon purchase at the hospital.

This is part of Oceania Hospitals Pte Ltd’s COVID-19 safety protocol in its effort to ensure minimal exposure at the medical facility.

In a paid statement published in The Fiji Times this week, the hospital stated that OHPL-provided PPE kits were to be worn if there was a need to enter the hospital for any purposes.

And it stated that those kits would be sold at the screening and triage area at $15.

The PPE kit contains one face mask, one face shield, one body cover and one shoe cover.

“Accompanying persons, if permitted, are also expected to wear the OHPL-provided PPEs,” the hospital stated.

It stated that with the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country, especially in the greater Suva area, this was its precautionary measure in place to protect stakeholders at large.

“OHPL will be regularly decontaminating the hospital premises as a precautionary measure, this is not to cause alarm but a proactive approach in managing the sanitising process.”

It stated that despite the inconvenience, the hospital was working towards a ‘being safe rather than being sorry’ approach.

The medical facility also noted its support for the Ministry of Health’s continuous re-emphasis on vaccination and “we urge all to make the effort to get vaccinated, which currently is provided free of any costs through MOH”.
