The district of Nalawa in Ra has placed a ban on the movement of people in and out of 18 villages.

Tui Nalawa Ratu Epeli Niudamu said the directive came into effect today.

He said a curfew on the movement of people would also be enforced from 5pm to 5am daily.

“I have had discussions via phone to all the 18 village headmen within the Nalawa district to tighten up our village By-laws where by non-essential travel will not be tolerated and we will be stopping people from coming and going out of our villages,” Ratu Epeli said.

“We have banned all community events in the Nalawa district and kava consumption.

“We will also be conducting prayer and fasting in our own families as we believe that divine intervention can spare us from this COVID-19.”
