A Nadi-based doctor is willing to offer medical services to Fijians whose employment has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in exchange for fresh vegetables and seafood.
Dr Ashank Naidu owns and operates his own medical clinic at Namaka, Nadi and has witnessed first-hand the difficulties many families have gone through during this difficult time.
“I hope to help Fijians from the bottom of my heart and this is why I have decided to offer my services to families in need of urgent medical services,” Dr Naidu said.
“We are all Fijians and we will need each other during this time of need.
“Nadi is the most affected because of tourism and the recent news that Fiji Airways employees have lost their jobs so I hope this service will be able to assist some of them.”
Dr Naidu said those hoping to obtain medical treatment from his clinic could do so by providing an identification card and proof of termination from their workplace.
He said those hoping to get medical consultation and injections could message him beforehand on his Facebook page to make appointments along with what they would like to barter.
Dr Naidu posted his latest medical service on Barter for Better Fiji Facebook page and this has generated a lot of interest from the public.
“We do not know how long this (pandemic) will go on for and money does not really matter in this world, it’s a matter of helping one another.”
Dr Naidu said his clinic would be open on Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 4pm and on Saturdays until 1pm.
