COVID-19: Juveniles among arrests for breach of curfew restrictions

Fifty-four arrests for breach of curfew restrictions were recorded in the last 48hours, including six juveniles.

Police reported that from Friday 11pm to Saturday 4am, 26 reports were recorded where 23 cases were linked to alcohol.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu said of the 16 arrests made in the Central Division, 15 involved men who were drunk in public.

He said of the five arrests recorded in the Eastern Division, four involved men who were drunk, whereas two of the three arrests made in the Southern Division were also linked to alcohol.

“Between 11pm last night to 4am this morning, 28 arrests were made which includes the arrest of six juveniles,” A/CP Tudravu said.

He said the Southern Division recorded 17 reports, four of which were juveniles found loitering in public; the Western Division recorded seven reports, two were juveniles.
