COVID-19: Heavy rain alert in force; TC Harold to move closer to South-west of Fiji

A heavy rain alert is now in force for the western half of Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands and the Southern Lau group.

This is due to severe tropical cyclone Harold that will move closer to the South-West of the Fiji group by tomorrow evening.

Forecast for the western half of Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands and the Southern Lau group is for cloudy periods with some showers and isolated afternoon thunderstorms today.

Showers expected to increase to rain and become frequent and heavy with squally thunderstorms from tomorrow.

Severe TC Harold is moving East at 13 km/hr.

Severe TC Harold centre is expected to pass just to the South of the group on Wednesday.

The associated rain bands are expected to affect the country from later tomorrow.
