Police officers were yesterday encouraged to remain patriotic and loyal to the responsibility bestowed upon them by the country.

Minister for Defence, National Security and Policing, and Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu who visited the three major designated containment borders within the Central Division personally acknowledged the officers for their service and sacrifices in serving on the frontline of Government’s COVID-19 operations.

“We need to keep up with the tempo. There have been lots of criticisms and misinformation, but I think for us, we are all above this, so let’s keep up the good work,” Mr Seruiratu said.

“We have a big responsibility to get us through this. Fiji needs us. This is a very critical time and hopefully this will be over and done with soon,” he said.

“Let’s also look out for one another.”

Mr Seruiratu urged the officers to observe all protocols in place and maintain their level of discipline and professionalism.

“Let not laxity and complacency creep into the system,” he said.

Mr Seruiratu started his visit at the Wainadoi border before meeting with officers serving at the WATERPOL base in Draunibota and officers based at the Lami Police Station.

He also visited officers based at the Fiji Police Academy in Nasova and the Transport Pool at Nasese, Suva.

As part of yesterday’s visit, Mr Seruiratu also personally visited officers currently based at the various Forward Command Base around Suva.
