COVID-19: Fiji records it’s first death

Fiji has recorded its first death due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The victim, a 66-year-old man who recently returned from India died at the Lautoka Hospital yesterday.
This was confirmed by Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete in a press conference in Suva this afternoon.
Acting Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong added that despite the death, Fiji remains a Covid-19 contained country.
He added there will be no changes to the current restrictions in place.
