More than 100 COVID-19 positive patients are under home isolation in Navua.

This, according to Namosi/Serua subdivisional medical officer Dr Kapil Swamy during a brief meeting with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at Navua Hospital yesterday.

Also present at the meeting was Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.

As of October 11, Dr Swamy said the total number of cases recorded in the two provinces and Beqa Island was 1883.

He said the hospital’s isolation facility did not have any COVID-19 patients under its care.

He said Navua Hospital and Rampur College are the two major isolation facilities, but the 137 positive cases were under home isolation.

Dr Swamy said the COVID-19 task force in Navua consisted of civil servants, Republic of Fiji Military Forces soldiers and Health Ministry staff.

He said the Ministry of Economy and NGOs had assisted in delivering food to patients under home isolation.
