An elderly woman will be produced in the Suva Magistrates Court today for allegedly breaching the mandatory self-quarantine measures after returning from overseas.

Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho said the woman who is in her 60s had been charged with one count of failure to comply with order.

“Police were notified when the accused turned up to the Registrar of Marriage Office in Suva last month requesting for an urgent procedure of marriage when it was discovered that she had just returned from the USA on March 23 as per her travel itinerary, and was supposed to be under self-isolation,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.

He said the woman was arrested after completing quarantine.
