Eight people were arrested in the last 48-hours for breaching COVID-19 curfew restrictions.

According to police, on Wednesday night a 19-year-old man was arrested as he was found drunk in Nausori Town during curfew hours.

From 11pm last night to 4am this morning, seven arrests were recorded.

“The Western Division recorded six cases while the Southern Division recorded one case. The six arrests recorded in the Western Division were made in Sigatoka, Lautoka, and Ba,” said Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.

ACP Tudravu added all men aged between 21-38 years were drunk during their time of arrest.

The lone arrest made in the Southern Division was recorded in Makoi involving a 37-year-old carpenter who was found walking around during curfew hours.

“Please plan your activities ahead of time and if you’re planning on having a few drinks, drink responsibly and avoid being caught out during curfew hours.”
