Lautoka residents are looking forward to tonight’s COVID-19 supplementary budget announcement.

Bonita Qio of Sandalwood Street said they were looking forward to a budget that took into account the issues affecting the people of Lautoka.

“Majority of the people in Lautoka have lost their jobs and have been affected by this pandemic and they need help,” Ms Qio said.

“We do hope the budget will be able to cover for them and their families in this time of dire need.”

Another resident Ratu Sikeli Rokotuibau said he was looking forward to a budget that would help people through this time of need.

He said most people in the Sugar City had had to struggle and were rendered helpless over the past few days because of the lockdown.

Resident Polly McGoon also hopes proper protective gear will be offered to people as they moved around the city.

Lautoka was locked down last Thursday after the announcement of Fiji’s first COVID-19 case.
