Thirty-five active cases have been recorded in Lautoka City drawing concerns from residents.

Lautoka Resident and Ratepayers Association acting president Nayaran Reddy said they had anticipated an increase in cases.

“With the current restrictions and no total lockdowns being done, it was bound to happen,” Mr Reddy said.

“We had made several requests for areas of interest to go on complete lockdown but they have only done that in certain areas.”

So far, three communities have been put on lockdown by authorities – namely Vakatora Housing, Saweni Top and the PRB Natokowaqa flats.
