AN early goal, an early red card, delay in restart because of lightning strike and thunderstorm were just some of the points to be noted in the Labasa-Ba clash at Suva’s ANZ Stadium today.

Labasa won the match 2-nil but Ba came with a strong fight.

Siotame Kubu scored the opener in the 10th minute.

Three minutes later, Ba’s Manasa Nawakula was shown a direct red card for a sliding challenge on a Labasa player.

Labasa led 1-nil at half-time.

There was a delay of approximately 20 minutes for the second half to start as lightning strikes and thunder delayed proceedings.

The second half was not as entertaining as the first as water logs around the ground hindered players from playing to their best abilities.

Labasa was awarded a penalty after a foul by Ba stopper Josaia Ratu.

Pita Levaci scored to secure the win for Labasa.

Late in the match, Ratu was sent to off for throwing a punch while Kubu also received the marching orders.

The match officials were escorted off the pitch by Police officers.
